One of the most rewarding experiences as a volunteer tutor is spending time helping an adult learner improve his or her literacy. With the ability to read well come self-confidence and a whole new world of opportunity!
Our tutors provide one-on-one and small group tutoring for adults. You don’t need previous experience to become a tutor, only a love of reading and a desire to help another person get ahead. To be a tutor you need to be 18 or older, and willing to commit to at least six months as a volunteer.
Our staff will train you, support you, and provide the materials you need to teach. After training, you and your partner will pick the day and time most convenient to both, and you can plan on about 2 hours a week working with your learner in any public place, including the library!
